“If you think you are too small to make a difference, try sleeping with a mosquito.”
– Dalai Lama XIV
The Dalai Lama, not only is he the most avid USC fan there ever was, but also one of the most profound fountains of advice, wisdom, and knowledge. I’ve been reading and revisiting his quotes these past couple of weeks and I can’t begin to fathom how one has such a gift of crafting words into the most meaningful, all-encompassing phrases. Just reading his quotes feels like mediation. If Tenzin Gyatso (the Dalai Lama) isn’t already one of your role models, you may want to reconsider. Below is a spotify playlist I’ve compiled inspired by the one and only – please don’t read too much into this, my choice of tracks has little to do with my deep respect for the Dalai Lama.
Some of my favorite Dalai Lama quotes:
“If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion.”
“Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck.”
“This is my simple religion. No need for temples. No need for complicated philosophy. Your own mind, your own heart is the temple. Your philosophy is simple kindness.”
The Dalai Lama’s life through music:
Soliciting a well deserved handshake to Tim McGraw post-performance.
His go-to move at every SHM concert.
Sippin’ syzurp while imagining life as Weezy.
Blissfully daydreaming to a Bon Iver/Ben Howard mix-tape.
And for Halloween, he went as his favorite artist – H.O.V.A.
